How it works

Four taps from clutter to climate impact

01

Snap a photo

Photograph your cans and bottles — at home or out on the street. Location is read automatically.

02

AI counts them

Our computer-vision model tallies every can, glass, and plastic bottle — you confirm or fix in one tap.

03

A collector picks up

A nearby collector sees your request, accepts it, and comes to your spot to grab the items.

04

Impact & give back

Watch your CO₂ prevented add up — and choose to donate 30% of the refund to a charity you care about.

What you get

Less hassle, more good done

Skip the depot run

No bagging up cans and driving to the Beer Store. A collector comes to your door or your spot.

Put the deposit to work

The refund pays your collector — or, if you choose, sends 30% to a local charity in your name.

Watch your impact grow

Every pickup adds to your CO₂ prevented and items kept out of landfill — tracked automatically.

Support your community

Local collectors earn, local charities benefit, and your neighbourhood gets a little cleaner.

Why it matters

Every can counts. Most never get recycled.

Canada throws out roughly 3.3 million tonnes of plastic a year and recycles less than a tenth of it. RecyclingNet closes the gap with a simple incentive loop — connecting people who have recyclables with collectors who can divert them, one pickup at a time.

Start making an impact
$0.10 / can recycling aluminum uses 95% less energy than making it new
$0.10 / glass Flat rate for now — Ontario actually pays $0.10 under 750 mL and $0.20 over, but our AI can't tell bottle sizes apart yet.
$0.00 / plastic Ontario's deposit program doesn't cover PET bottles today — our AI already detects them, ready for provinces that do pay.
No catch

Wait — why is it free?

RecyclingNet is free for you, and there's no fine print. Here's exactly how that works.

Collectors earn the deposits

The refund on your cans and bottles is what pays a collector to come get them. That's the whole economy — no fee ever lands on you.

We recycle — we don't sell you

We don't sell your data or your habits. Our goal is keeping recyclables out of landfill, full stop. Read our privacy policy →

Your photos make it smarter

Each photo helps train our detection model, so counting keeps getting better for everyone. That shared improvement is the point.

Questions

Everything you're probably wondering

Is RecyclingNet really free?

Yes — completely, for requesters. No fees, no subscription, no credit card. Collectors keep the deposit refund as their payment for the pickup.

What can it pick up?

Deposit containers our AI recognises: aluminum cans, glass bottles, and plastic (PET) bottles. Give them a rinse and group them in one spot for the clearest photo.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes — it runs right in your phone's browser, no app store download. You can add it to your home screen in about 15 seconds; the full FAQ shows how for iPhone and Android.

Is my data safe?

We never sell your data. Your location is used only when you submit a request, and photos are used to run your pickup and improve detection. Full details in our Privacy Policy.

How do I get started?

Request free access, and once you're approved (usually within a day) just snap a photo of your recyclables to submit your first pickup.
